Step 1: Cleaning and Pickling
The factory removes oil, rust, and dirt using a degreasing solution. Then it uses acid to strip the steel clean in a process called pickling.

Step 2: Fluxing
The cleaned steel enters a flux bath with zinc ammonium chloride. This bath stops the steel from oxidizing before zinc coating.

Step 3: Zinc Coating
The steel passes through molten zinc at 450°C (842°F). Zinc bonds with the steel through diffusion.

Step 4: Air Wiping
Air knives blow off extra zinc. This ensures a thin, even coating, usually 40–100 g/m² (around 6–14 microns thick).

Step 5: Recoiling
The factory cools and dries the steel. Then workers roll it into coils for storage or delivery. This becomes pre-galvanized steel coil.

The zinc layer is significantly thinner than that of hot-dip galvanized steel (15–20 microns vs. 70–100+ microns), reducing corrosion resistance.

⚠️ Shorter Outdoor Lifespan

It may not perform well in harsh outdoor environments, marine atmospheres, or heavily polluted areas.
